The Philippine National Police will once again open their Gun Amnesty program in a bid to cut down loose firearms in the country.

Loose firearms are often attributed to crimes, and reducing unlicensed firearms would also reduce crime rates.

The amnesty program will start on September of 2015.

According to PNP figures, there are 1.7 million registered firearms in the country while there are 500 thousand unlicensed firearms.
